The Season to Give: Events and Tips for Residents of Terrain and Castle Rock

As we enter the holiday season, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the usual to-do lists: buying gifts, sending cards, throwing parties, and baking like there’s no tomorrow. Oftentimes, our good intentions of giving to those less fortunate can get lost in the scramble to keep up with everything else. That’s why we’ve organized an event here at Terrain that makes giving easy. We’ve compiled a little shopping advice, too, so that all of your purchases make a positive impact this holiday season.

    Together We ‘Can’ Holiday Drive

Now through Friday, December 9th, we are collecting items on behalf of the Douglas Elbert Task Force. Their mission is to help meet the immediate needs of residents of Douglas and Elbert counties who are in financial stress and at the risk of becoming homeless, and to help them work through troublesome times with dignity.

Please bring any of the following items to a collection site at Terrain by Friday, December 9. (Collection sites include the offices of D.R. Horton, Taylor Morrison, and TRI Pointe Homes, as well as the Swim Club.) It’s simple to pick up some extra items when you’re at the store, and they can truly make a difference for people who are struggling to get by.

    • Canned food
    • Non-perishable items
    • Pet food
    • Toiletries
    • Pull-up diapers (size 4 and larger)

    Shopping Suggestions

As you tackle your holiday shopping list, keep in mind that every penny spent locally directly contributes to the health of the Castle Rock community. Castle Rock has a wonderful mix of retailers, so there’s no need to travel far to find something for everyone on your list. You can even pick up unique, handmade items at the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center. Or, consider stopping at one of Castle Rock’s two Goodwill locations. Not only do you save money and support a great cause by shopping at Goodwill—you also have a place to donate any unwanted items after the season is over (e.g., that duplicate book or sweater you received).

Terrain Castle Rock is a planned community of new homes ranging from the $300s – $600s. Check out the variety of floor plans available from four reputable and award-winning builders. Better yet, come visit! Model homes are open daily.
