Wherever you’re coming from, welcome home.

Situated midway between Denver and Colorado Springs, along the front range of the majestic Rocky Mountains, Castle Rock was ranked as one of the best places to live by Money magazine and awarded a livability score of 79 from Livability.com. We’re not surprised. It’s a great place to live.

We love it here. We think you will too.

    Climate

One of our favorite things about the area is the mild climate and seasonal variety. Castle Rock is located in a semi-arid region of Colorado, with 300 days of sunshine a year. The average temperature in winter is 45 degrees, with an average snowfall of 62 inches. In the summer, the temperature hovers around 82. With an elevation of 6,224 feet above sea level, we are surrounded with beautiful views and fresh, clean air.

    Employment and the Local Economy

Nearly 80% of Castle Rock residents over the age of 16 are employed. As the Douglas County seat, Castle Rock is within easy driving distance of major employers in the Denver Tech Center, Lone Tree, Aurora and Colorado Springs. Both downtown Denver and Denver International Airport are approximately a 40-minute drive.

The largest percentage of us work in education, health care, social assistance, technology and finance. Some of our biggest employers include Comcast, DISH Network, Level 3 Communications and Charles Schwab.

We are also located between private aerospace giants, such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Northrup Grumman, and United Launch Alliance, and national defense commands and military space centers.

    Local Services

Local law enforcement work hand-in-hand with the people who live here in a continued effort to make Castle Rock one of the best places to live, work and play.

Castle Rock’s local fire department includes 76 career members who staff four fire and rescue stations to provide us with round-the-clock fire and medical services that cover a 66-square-mile area.

Castle Rock Adventist Hospital offers the convenience of a 50-bed hospital with an emergency room, imaging center and advanced care for many specialties.

    Education

Douglas County School District is one of the top performing, highest ranked school districts in Colorado. Serving more than 60,000 students, it’s the third-largest district in the state, and the only district with over 30,000 students to earn the highest accreditation rating from Colorado’s Department of Education.

Douglas County has an open enrollment policy that gives families the opportunity to choose the educational environment and programming that best meets their child’s needs. Currently, there are 21 schools in Castle Rock, three of which are just minutes from any home in Terrain.
