Small town charm with big city conveniences. Family-friendly community events and abundant parks, trails and open space. Easy access to Denver, Colorado Springs, and the Colorado Rockies. We Castle Rock. Let us count the ways…
There is a real sense of community and friendship here. Frankly, that’s hard to come by these days. But Castle Rock tends to attract the kind of people who really care about their community. Are they just happier people, or does living here make them happier? We don’t know… we just know we love having them as neighbors and friends.
Some of us love to shop. And some of us feel that it’s more of a necessary evil. Regardless of where you stand on the issue, the shops of Castle Rock have pretty much everything you need. Antique shops, designer boutiques, specialty stores, factory outlets, big box retailers, chain and gourmet grocers. Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift, spending a leisurely afternoon shopping with friends, or just need to stop and pick up some milk on your way home from work, there’s no need to go any further than your own hometown.
With its beautiful trails, well-planned parks, and abundant open space, this town was built for active people. Castle Rock contains 20 well-maintained developed parks, about 5,800 acres of open space, and nearly 75 miles of trails. In addition, we have an award-winning, 18-hole golf course, an 84,000-square-foot Recreation Center, and the new 60,000-square-foot Miller Activity Complex.
Castle Rock was first settled in the 1870s and aptly named for the prominent rock formation that overlooks the Town. The Castle Rock Historical Society has placed markers embedded with QR codes that link to the building’s story on several historical sites throughout the town. Historical walking tours and events, and the Castle Rock Museum offer history buffs ample opportunity to learn more about the stories, people and events that built their town.
In addition to a great network of doctors, dentists and other health care providers, we have a brand new state-of-the-art 50-bed hospital located in the heart of Castle Rock. All of us in the community appreciate the convenience of having an ER, imaging center, and advanced medical care in our own neighborhood.
For many of us with kids, the top notch schools of Castle Rock are one of the main reasons we live here. Our 21 schools are among the highest rated and best performing in the state. In addition to excellent neighborhood public schools, the district offers open enrollment, allowing access to more than a dozen other facilities, including specialized charter and magnet schools.
We may be a small town, but our restaurant and entertainment options rival the best in Denver. From bistros to brew pubs, day spas to movie theaters, concerts in the park to a quiet day in the library, there’s something here for every whim and craving.
Castle Rock is conveniently located along the corridor between private aerospace giants, national defense commands, and military space centers. The Denver Tech Center, the hub for IT and software, telecommunications, financial services and medical industries, is less than 20 miles away. Cherry Creek and Downtown Denver are just a few miles beyond that. Our town is ideal for those of us who work in the city but don’t want to live there.
