Douglas County School District is one of the top performing, highest ranked school districts in Colorado. Serving more than 60,000 students, it’s the third-largest district in the state, and the only district with over 30,000 students to earn the highest accreditation rating from Colorado’s Department of Education.
The district offers students an education based heavily on individualized attention and a balanced assessment system. The curriculum is primarily driven by critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration, with considerably less emphasis on standardized testing and memorization. A district-wide focus on 21st century skills has created one of the best education environments in the country.
Douglas County has an open enrollment policy that gives families the opportunity to choose the educational environment and programming that best meets their child’s needs. For those of us who live in Terrain, three of the best options are right in our own backyard.
