    Beautiful Fall Drives in Colorado

Colorado is renowned for its beautiful fall colors—especially the mountain Aspens. Here’s a list of the best places to see nature’s biggest show this season.

    • This Top of the Rockies drive will take you from Copper Mountain to Aspen, via the Continental Divide and the historic town of Leadville. Enjoy the vibrant colors anywhere from 9,000 to 10,000 feet as this scenic byway offers views of the tallest and most stunning mountains in the state. Total distance is 82 miles for this 2-hour trip, though you might want to allow more time to stop and enjoy the lakes, towns, and views of the fall colors along the way!
    • If you haven’t yet seen the sand dunes, work that into this Cache la Poudre North Park drive. View the fall colors as they change between Ft. Collins and Walden. Along the way, keep your eyes open for big-horn sheep and the rapids of the Cache la Poudre river. Be sure to stop at the East sand dunes to see one of the state’s natural wonders, and at Cameron Pass to enjoy a stunning view of the North Park basin. Total distance is 101 miles and a suggested driving time is about
      3 hours.
    • Looking for a shorter getaway? Try the Rim Rock Drive through Colorado National Monument.
This 23-mile trip starts in Grand Junction and provides vivid colors not only of the foliage, but of the cliff walls streaked with purple, yellow, and orange. The kids can imagine Colorado’s earlier cowboy days as you drive past rolling plains, stone arches, unique rock formations, and beautiful mesas iconic of the American west. Follow I-70 west to Grand Junction, take Exit 31, and enjoy the ride.

Fall is a spectacular season! We hope you enjoy these scenic byways. Remember that there are many local wineries to tour as well—work one into your trip!

Terrain is a planned community of new homes in Castle Rock ranging from the $300s – $600s. Community residents can enjoy the beauty of the fall season in their own backyard: there are many trails and open spaces perfect for walking, jogging, biking, and sightseeing. Enjoy views of the changing foliage as well as local wildlife.
